Harmonious Horizons is a project that aims to create a comfortable and adaptable environment for neurodivergent individuals.

 

 

• The design process involved a thorough understanding of sensory management, including smell, taste, touch, sound, and sight.

 

• The goal was aimed at creating a comfortable atmosphere that caters to individual sensory needs, ensuring that noise, light, textures, visuals, and colors are managed effectively.

Harmonious Horizons, a welcoming, diverse atmosphere, offers dedicated support, training, and enrichment opportunities for neurodiverse young adults. Wayfinding techniques such as maps, colour-coding, and signage will promote individualism and encourage confidence. Curvilinear pathways minimize abrupt transitions and unexpected encounters with peers. Carefully selected materials with cleaning, usability, and acoustic properties in mind. Embracing a calming palette of blues, whites, and browns promotes relaxation and creates harmony throughout. Tactile elements, quiet spaces, adjustable ambient lighting and other design strategies are provided to cater to individual sensory needs. Harmonious Horizons welcomes and supports each individual through their unique journey.
